I'm A Tattoo-aholic

Have you ever heard that once you get your first tattoo one of two things could happen? Either you hated it and will never get another one again (if you went through with the first one) or you will become 'addicted' and will continually add to your collection?

Well, I am in the second category. I LOVE tattoos - I love thinking of what to get, going over to the design shop and having them design it for me, I love getting tattooed and I love that I have them.  Seriously addicted!  I am far to vain to get covered in them (although I LOVE the way that looks if they are done well) and if I am ever go to back to 'work' I don't think being covered in visible tattoos is going to be the best look for my career.

Anyways - I got my first tattoo when I was, I think 18 or 19 years old.  I got the playboy symbol and while I know some of you are so not going to understand it - I still love it. I know, "tramp stamp" supreme - but it really means something to me.

I then got another tattoo on the back of my neck - the middle symbol means "Sister" and I went with my sister who got the same tattoo in the same spot.  A year or so after that I got the other symbols - top one means "Daughter" and the bottom one means "Mother".  They are pretty self explanatory as to why they are special to me :D

The next tattoo I got is really my absolute favourite. My back tattoo - every element means something to me. It took 4 sittings and 21 hours and it is beautiful.  If you take a look at the photo you can see why I am so in love with it. There are 4 pink hibiscus flowers - 5 cherry blossoms with falling petals and flourish. The hibiscus flowers represent a child of mine (including Triton). Cherry blossoms are a recurrent theme in my tattoos. I have 7 of them at the moment - each with falling petals and still need to get 2 more. Each blossom represents a miscarriage  and the flourish tying them all together.  In the photo you can see my neck tattoos, 'tramp stamp' and my whole back tattoo.

So, it doesn't stop there - addiction! I honestly get something done every year. So, the next tattoo I got was last year for mothers day. I can't show the whole picture with this one because I am not comfortable sharing my kids names so the photo is blurred out but you can still get the idea. I have angel wings again representing all my baby losses and then each child's name after the other. Big P, Princess R and Baby E.

This was the first tattoo that I got that is really visible in almost everything I wear. I love looking at it and the kids really love to read their names and trace the letters. I have lots of room going up the arm (*wink Ryan) for when/if we are going to expand our troop (don't freak out mom we're not trying ♥) .

I got my newest tattoo this year for my birthday. Like all my other tattoos it has a huge meaning to me. the phrase "Come What May" is sort of my motto in life. You know like I really feel like I can take what ever is dealt to me and I will do what I can with it. That phrase is also the title of my wedding song. Again the cherry blossoms and falling petals and the same flourish on my back are in this tattoo. It goes from right above my outer ankle and swirls over to my big toe.

My next tattoo I am hoping to finish off the cherry blossoms. I need to get 2 more of them with the falling petals and I still haven't decided on where I am going to put them or what to do with them yet.  I am hoping (*wink again Ryan) that it will be another Mother's Day gift for this year. I am upping my addiction wanting to get 2 in one year!

So, do you have tattoos? Are you as addicted (or more) then I am?

*ETA: Twitter Tat Tour & McLinky -- also Husband got me a coupon for mother's day to complete the last 2 cherry blossom + petal tattoos - any idea on where i should get them? I'm thinking side of ribs?
