In Three Weeks: Big P Goes To School

I know I have written about this before. If you haven't yest guessed I am a bit anxious about Big P starting school this year. Just a bit...

He was old enough to start school last year - in Junior Kindergarten - but because he is a December baby he would have only been 3 years old when he started and that is too young. Way too young. He wasn't ready and there is no mandatory law for school here in Ontario until Grade 1 so we kept him at home. We had also just had a new baby & there was already a LOT of change.

In 3 weeks my first babe will start school - Senior Kindergarten. He is ready this year, he is 4 turning 5 and he is excited. He has a few reservations about taking the school bus by himself but I know he is ready.  He is still only going part time - every other day {so 1 week it will be 2 days and the next week 3 days - then back to 2 etc} and he is home by 3:30 so I am comforted that he will not be gone every day - yet.

He is also going into French Immersion. Neither my husband nor I speak any French, but we wanted to give him an opportunity to learn a second language. My siblings and I have said at times how much we wish we knew French better - and this program will give my kids this opportunity.  We also got the teacher we requested - a male kindergarten teacher who also has Celiac Disease - bonus awesome. Big P will love having a male teacher and he is really good with the kids.

I am having some anxiety - that is putting it lightly really. I am being sure not to let this show to Big P because I know he is anxious a bit himself. My anxiety is only with 'releasing' him to the world. I am a bit of a control-freak - I have been his 'teacher' for 4.5 years and now I am handing that over. So many 'what-if's but I know a few months in the school routine will be the new norm... just have to get through those first few months.
